1/ How did you first become interested in artificial intelligence?

This was during my Master of Science degree in which we had a class on Expert
Systems. After that, I became a member of the Machine Learning Research Group at
our school.

2/ What inspired you to become a trainer in AI?

Knowledge of Machine Learning concepts gained from our research group and
availability Machine Learning/AI courses at our school.

3/ What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve encountered while
training others in AI?

Concepts that require deeper understanding of Mathematics which trainees find hard to
understand. Limited access to powerful computing power to train deep learning models
is also another challenge.

4/ How do you feel when you see students struggling with complex AI concepts?

I feel good because I get confirmation that they digging deeper and trying to learn.

5/ Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the rapid pace of advancements in AI
technology? If so, how do you cope?

Quite often. I cope by regularly listening to tech talks. As a I trainer, I challenge my
students to explore and make presentations on current trends in AI and this keeps me
updated.

6/ How do you feel about the growing presence of AI in everyday life? Do you see
it as an exciting opportunity or a potential threat?

I feel so good about rapid integration of AI within our everyday life and hope that
someday a large section of our day-to-day activities will be aided by AI.

7/ In your opinion, how will AI change the way people learn and work in the
future?

Significantly. Most of teaching/learning will generally take place through AI agents while
schools and colleges will generally remain for certification purposes. Work will be
significantly aided by AI though minimal human intervention will still be required.

8/ What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to learn about AI
and may feel intimidated?

Its not too late to begin. There are many living examples, me inclusive, that joined AI
field at advance stages.

9/ What skills or mindsets do you think are most important for someone interested
in a career in AI?

Mathematical skills particularly linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
Programming skills especially in Python. Other skills such as Machine Learning, Data
Structures and Algorithms may be acquired along the way.
A curious mindset with resilience and patience is also essential
