In a few days we travel to Dar Es Salaam for a unique training from 4th until 13th of September at Ardhi University! People from Zanzibar, Tanzania, Uganda and across the continent will embrace the power of artificial intelligence. Thanks to the Belgian VLIRUOS and European Erasmus+ projects, we are bringing these advanced technologies to the region, where they are not only being utilized but also developed and implemented by the local population.
We will train local talents and build strong collaborations between universities and the government to drive innovation. This is not just about technology—it’s about creating sustainable solutions for Africa’s future.
Come and see how we are bringing IoT and AI to life in East Africa and beyond!
AI training @ Ardhi University
The first three days of the training are dedicated to basic concepts in Data Science, with topics like supervised learning, regression, classification techniques… The training blended theoretical knowledge with practical sessions, ensuring that participants not only understood the core principles but could also apply them through hands-on exercises.
We were fortunate to have a diverse set of expert trainers guiding the sessions. Two Belgian trainers, Wouter Gevaert and Wim Casteels, were accompanied by two Ugandan trainers, Kyebambe Moses Ntanda and Halimu Chongomweru.
Participants had the opportunity to work with Python code making predictions using real-world datasets. This hands-on approach helps everyone become comfortable with the application of machine learning algorithms in Python.
The smooth execution of the event was made possible by the diligent planning and efforts of Ardhi University, with special thanks to Godfrey Luwemba and his team, who ensured that every aspect of the training ran seamlessly.
While the basic training provided a strong foundation, the participants are eagerly looking forward to the advanced sessions, which will begin next week. These sessions will dive deeper into the more complex aspects of data science and AI, allowing participants to tackle more challenging problems and further enhance their skill sets.
